- Why Year 8 matters
Where the gaps either close, or set in.
Year 8 is a big jump in abstraction. Index laws, expanding and factorising, Pythagoras’ theorem and formal probability all land this year, building directly on the Year 7 foundations. In Science, students move from describing the world to properly investigating it — cells and body systems, atoms and chemical change, plate tectonics and the rock cycle, and energy and circuits.
Because Year 8 content is the direct foundation for Years 9 and 10, gaps that open here tend to compound fast. Our Year 8 program is built to close them early: each term’s tutoring is mapped to what’s actually being taught in WA classrooms that term, so sessions reinforce school learning instead of running on a separate track.
