Year 4 Division Facts (Inverse of Tables) Worksheet
29 division-fact fluency and problem-solving questions for Year 4, linking division to known times tables, plus a full worked answer key.
What's covered
- Recalling division facts as the inverse of known multiplication facts
- Solving sharing and grouping word problems using division facts
- Explaining and justifying division facts using related multiplication facts
About this worksheet
Once students know their times tables well, division facts come almost for free — every multiplication fact hides two division facts inside it. This worksheet helps Year 4 students make that connection explicit, building fast and confident recall of division facts as the inverse of multiplication.
The worksheet follows EduLift’s standard four-part structure. It opens with 16 fluency questions covering division facts across the 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 times tables. Six core questions apply those facts to sharing and grouping word problems, several requiring a second step after the division. Four reasoning questions ask students to explain the link between multiplication and division, correct a mistaken answer using a related multiplication fact, and evaluate a general claim about division. Three challenge questions ask students to find a division fact matching given conditions, work backwards from a known quotient, or compare outcomes across different group sizes.
Every question has been hand-checked for accuracy, and a full worked answer key is provided as a separate download, with marking guidance for the word problems and reasoning questions so parents and tutors can mark consistently.
This worksheet is aligned to the WA Curriculum code WA4MNADI1 and is free to download for personal and classroom use.
Common errors we see in tutoring
- Recalling the wrong related multiplication fact, e.g. confusing 63÷9 with 54÷9
- Mixing up which number is the dividend and which is the divisor in a word problem
- Stopping after the first step in a two-step word problem instead of completing it
Answer key (with worked solutions)
The answer key is a separate PDF with every question worked, not just the final answers.
