About this worksheet
Multiplication facts are the foundation for almost everything that comes next in primary maths — from long multiplication and division to fractions, area and scaling. This worksheet gives Year 4 students focused, repeated practice with multiplication facts up to 10 × 10, helping them move from counting or skip-counting towards fast, confident recall.
The worksheet follows EduLift’s standard four-part structure. It opens with 16 fluency questions covering facts across the 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 times tables, including trickier “near facts” that students often confuse. Six core questions then apply those facts to everyday word problems — seating, packing and shopping scenarios that ask students to multiply and then take a second step. Four reasoning questions ask students to explain their thinking, check an answer, or evaluate another student’s mistake, building the mathematical vocabulary SCSA assessments expect. Finally, three challenge questions stretch students who are ready to work backwards from a product or reason about multiple valid answers.
Every question has been hand-checked for accuracy, and a full worked answer key is provided as a separate download, with marking guidance for the word problems and reasoning questions so parents and tutors can mark consistently.
This worksheet is aligned to the WA Curriculum code WA4MNAMU1 and is free to download for personal and classroom use.
Common errors we see in tutoring
- Confusing near facts, e.g. mixing up 7×8 with 7×9
- Miscounting or guessing on harder facts, e.g. 7×8 or 8×9
- Not recognising that multiplication facts work both ways, e.g. treating 6×8 and 8×6 as separate facts to re-learn
- Errors applying a known fact within a two-step word problem
